The Mummy Online is coming to a browser near you

The Mummy? Yes, that one! The one with Abominable Snowmen (I’m calling dibs right here and now) and that weirdly charming guy who makes those oh-so-funny faces.

It’s being made into a free-to-play, browser-based MMO called The Mummy Online. Bigpoint and Schell Games — who you might recognize thanks to CEO Jesse Schell’s mindblowing GDC talk — are working on getting it out during winter 2010.

While there are a million and one ways this project could go sour, I am oddly interested in seeing more about it. The Mummy films, unlike many properties that are turned into videogames, make a lot of sense in this context. Plus, “free” sounds pretty good to me.
