Monday Mind Teasers: One Button Bob

Hey, this is certainly no Robot Unicorn Attack, but I’m still confident this gorgeous pixel art game will be one of the better flash games of 2010. If Boomshine was the Fl0w of indie flash games this year, and Adult Swim’s Robot Unicorn Attack was the Katamari Damacy equivalent, and Epsilon was definitely the Portal equivalent, then One Button Bob would have to be chalked up as the WarioWare indie flash game of this year. If you haven’t tried out ALL of these games so far, you really owe it to yourself to check them out one by one; we’ve been given many great flash games lately!

As promised by its title, One Button Bob can be beaten by simply clicking the left mouse button over and over at the correct times on each screen. Advance to the right side of the screen to beat the level and be presented with a new screen that contains new obstacles, enemies, and challenges.

However, with the actions of your mouse clicks changing drastically from screen to screen, the game is far from redundant. And much like the wonder of WarioWare, you’re not informed of what the new action for each level is, but instead are left to have fun finding out on your own. Don’t worry about dying excessively though, you have infinite lives and you always respawn at the level you’re on.

Your quest will lead you deep into a castle’s dungeon to slay a giant beast who is a surprisingly fulfilling last boss for such a simple game. The score system uses the number of clicks it takes you to beat the game as its formula for your high score, meaning the lowest final scores are the best. Sadly, as with all online flash games, the leaderboards are dominated by glitching geeks who have a lot of free time that would be better spent teaching me how the heck they can hack a game like this to think they won in 0 friggin’ clicks. Damn you, Arronn_Foxx! Teach me your nine-year-old lissssping disslexxicc voodoo magic! I command you! AGH!

You can play this great game here on NinjaDoodle. Just click the “Play Game!” button and you’re good to go. Share your best scores in the comments below!
