Trion Worlds introducing an MMORTS and Syfy MMO

Recommended Videos

Just a few posts below I told you about Trion Worlds’ upcoming MMO Rift: Planes of Telara, but that isn’t all the development company is cooking up on their Arnold Palmer-style approach to supporting an MMO. The company has two more projects in the works: an MMORTS called End of Nations and a science fiction MMO they are creating in cooperation with the Syfy (uggg) Channel.

The former game is being developed by Petroglyph Games, who are the creative minds behind the original Command & Conquer. The press release on the game says that it will allow players to take on thousands of opponents over the interwebs while allowing them to “develop their own Commanders, build up their headquarters, and deploy a vast array of vehicles, weapons and technologies acquired through combat experience, crafting, and research.” It’s launching in 2011.

The Syfy MMO is a bit more mysterious. The game is being developed alongside a new Syfy show, and both will be announced and launch at the same time. It appears that this will be an action focused MMO and Trion is calling it their most groundbreaking game. What is really interesting is that the universes of the show and the game will be shared, so that when something happens in the show, it will happen in the game and vice versa. Again, it’s Trion’s cloud computing approach to the MMO that allows this to work. No launch window on this guy.

Screenshots and concept art are below. I have faith that you can tell the two games apart.
