Posidonia is a crafting material in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale expansion that can be tricky to obtain when you’re just getting started. Despite being listed as a crafting component, you won’t find this on land like most items: You’ll need to search the water for this one.

Where to find Posidonia in Disney Dreamlight Valley
You can obtain Posidonia by fishing in Mythopia. You’ll need to avoid casting your line toward colored, bubbling circles, or you’ll catch fish instead. Only fish in clear, unmoving water for the best chance at finding Posidonia.

Each time you fish in any Mythopia water source outside of colored, bubbling circles, you’ll catch either Posidonia or Flying Fish. It doesn’t matter which part of Mythopia you fish in. Your best bet is sticking to The Elysian Fields since this is the first region you’ll open; however, you can explore anywhere if you have other biomes unlocked.
There’s a chance you’ll get Flying Fish instead, even if no fishing circles are nearby. Don’t be alarmed by this. Keep trying until you land your first catch. I got three Flying Fish before obtaining my first Posidonia, so sometimes, it just comes down to luck.
Hanging out with a high-level villager assigned the Fishing hangout bonus will help you catch more Posidonia. If they have Fishing as their bonus, they can obtain extra Posidonia whenever you find one. At level ten, the odds are almost guaranteed, cutting your fishing time in half.
What is Posidonia used for in Disney Dreamlight Valley?
Your first encounter with Posidonia will likely be during Hades’ Mythic Restoration quest. During this mission, he’ll ask you to gather some ingredients so he can upgrade your pickaxe. Alongside Posidonia, you’ll also need the following items:
- Crimson Eternal Poppies (3)
- Posidonia plants (5)
- Gravel (10)
You’ll also need Posidonia for other quests such as An Old-Fashioned Heist, A Hero of Ink and Paper and Aurora’s The Family Recipe mission. Each one asks for ten of these resources, so be prepared to do a lot of fishing if you’re venturing into or have completed The Storybook Vale’s second chapter.

Another use for Posidonia is crafting regular furniture items. Below is every recipe that uses Posidonia:
- Lilo’s Bunk Bed: Posidonia, Broken Weapon, Goldenrod Eternal Poppies, Petrified Wood, Story Magic
- The Bind Fountain: Marble, Moss, Posidonia, Stone
- Green Bind L Couch: Petrified Wood, Moss, Pinecone, Posidonia, Teal Eternal Poppies
- Orange Bind L Couch: Petrified Wood, Moss, Pinecone, Posidonia, Goldenrod Eternal Poppies
In other words, if you’re looking to explore every Storybook Vale recipe and complete every mission throughout your playthrough, you’ll need at least a few dozen Posidonia. Otherwise, having some on hand for quests will help save you time later.
