E3 will be ‘really exciting for fans of Epic’

Venture Beat recently cornered Epic Games’ President Mike Capps, who revealed that the developer is not currently working on a new Unreal game. But that doesn’t mean its sleeping on the job, either.

“We might have a new one coming,” he says of an upcoming game reveal, “I think E3 is going to be really exciting for fans of Epic.”

We already know that Epic is working with People Can Fly an Electronic Arts published shooter, which is set to ship early next year. The title is likely to get an E3 reveal, and has been hiding in development for awhile; during an Unreal Tournament III press demo tour, Epic’s Mark Rein told me how amped up he was about this project. That was in 2007.

What of another Gears of War title? A follow-up to the popular franchise seems like a no-brainer, but whether not we’ll see it at E3 remains a mystery. Epic hasn’t given up on the Gears movie, either — Capps tells Venture Beat he hopes they’ll have “some news to share soon.”
