Rise of the Triad getting ported to the iPhone this year

Apogee Software’s classic PC first-person shooter Rise of the Triad is coming to iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad this year thanks to Mobila Interactice.

A full port of the original title for the Apple platforms, Rise of the Triad features the game’s original graphics, soundtrack, as well as the 32 levels included in the original. Players can choose from one of five players as part of the H.U.N.T. (High-risk United Nations Task-force), each with his or her own unique characteristics. In a page ripped out of a press sheet from 1994, the game’s press release takes great care to let us know that you’ll be able to “look both up and down, up to 345 degree, to see what is above and below.”

What is above is a video of the game in action; what is below is a gallery of screens. According to Mobila, Rise of the Triad will be available for download “soon.”
