Sony’s motion wand could herald Wii-to-PS3 ports

Unlike Microsoft with Project Natal, Sony wasn’t looking to reinvent the wheel when it debuted the Sony Wiimote at this year’s E3. It basically gives the PS3 the same functionality as the Wii with a little extra kick, but that’s certainly no bad thing according to Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi. In fact, he’s stated that developers are rubbing their hands with glee at the opportunity to port Wii titles to Sony’s big black box o’ Blu-ray.

“Speaking to other developers in Japan, I’ve heard a few of them say they were delighted by the Sony motion controller because they can just port over their Wii titles to the PS3,” he told 1UP. Hmmm.

This might be a great chance for PS3 gamers to get their hands on Zack & Wiki, MadWorld, No More Heroes and Muramasa, but of course this also means that evil sh*t like Carnival Games or Ubisoft’s Latest Piece of Casual Crap II: The Crappening could potentially infest the PlayStation 3.

I’ll err on the side of naivety and look forward to the Wii’s more obscure third party games appearing on the PS3. Which Wii game would you most like to see slapped on a Blu-ray disc?
