During the 2024 Nintendo Direct, Douze Dixiemes and Focus Entertainment revealed a first look at their latest upcoming game, MIO: Memories in Orbit. MIO: Memories in Orbit is a 2D Metroidvania that is planning to be released in 2025 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
In the beautiful, vast landscapes of space, Mio: Memories in Orbit has your character, the android MIO, set out to explore the galaxy and its wonders. As MIO breaks out of its wire-covered vessel and steps foot into the world, you’ll battle enemies, use your grappling hook-like abilities to climb around the terrain, and avoid various deadly obstacles to discover new areas in the universe and save your spaceship from a growing hostile force.
Diving into its gameplay more, the world premiere reveals multiple terrain traversal methods you’ll use, from a light beam acting as a grappling hook to pull you through the air to gliding, multi-jumps, and basic combat attacks. You’ll use these various mechanics to defend and evade against enemies as well as avoiding challenging traps that require careful navigation.
Mio: Memories in Orbit will be available on the Nintendo Switch in 2024. No exact release date or time is currently known.
