How to change your Fortnite name, step by step guide

"Hey" and "You" are two of the many things I respond to.

If your existing Fortnite name was something you thought was funny when you made it, but it’s aged like milk, don’t worry. You aren’t stuck with it. No matter your reasoning for changing your username, here’s how to change your handle in Fortnite.

How to change your Fortnite name, by platform

PC

  • Go to Fortnite.com and log in with your existing account information.
  • In the top right of the window will be a user icon. Click it and select “Account.”
  • Under “Account Settings,” you’ll see a field labeled “Display Name.”
  • Click the edit icon to change your username, which will then be reflected in Fortnite.
  • You can change your Epic Games Display Name once every two weeks.

Nintendo Switch

Unlike PlayStation or Xbox, the Nintendo Switch uses Epic Games’ system for handling names, so changing your handle will be nearly identical to PC users.

  • Go to Fortnite.com and log in with your existing account information.
    • If you don’t have an Epic Games account or Fortnite login, you can log in with your Nintendo account credentials by clicking the Switch icon.

From here, follow the same steps as the PC process. Changing your Epic Games Display Name will not change your Nintendo account name.

Mobile

With the various lawsuits that Epic Games has brought against Apple and Google, Fortnite hasn’t been natively available on mobile for some time. Once it makes its triumphant return, I’ll make sure to update this section with the appropriate information.
