How to get a Mandervillous Relic Weapon in FFXIV

Bat 'er up!

Final Fantasy XIV fan favorite Hildibrand returns in 6.55 for the last segment of his story before Dawntrail, and not only do we get more on-brand slapstick comedy, but also some shiny new weapons to boot. Let’s take a look at where to begin and how to get the Mandervillous relics.

As a note, if you’re here hunting the FFXIV UFO Mount, just know it’s part of this quest chain. This is a two-birds-one-stone situation. Complete the Hlidibrand quests; get a cool mount and a weapon. Easy!

Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures

Before you can even try to get your hands on those beautiful, color-changing weapons, you’re going to have to go through the misadventures of Hildibrand and even complete the new trial – The Gilded Araya. If you’re behind, we’ve got the previous steps already guided out.

Patch 6.55 Relic Weapon Requirements:

Of Duplicity and Duplication

To pick up the first Patch 6.55 Manderville quest, head to Radz-at-Han and talk to Delion (X:11.4, Y:11.15). He’ll tell you that he’s heard of a mysterious Alchemist who can help locate Pupu’s missing friend. Teleport to Yedlihmad and talk to Hildibrand (X:25.1, Y:34.3), then find the three NPCs:

  • Yedlihmad Fisherman (X:25.5, Y:35.7)
  • Yedlihmad Fishmonger (X:25.8, Y:33.7)
  • Yedlihmad Merchant (X:26.3, Y:32.9)

Once you’ve gathered all the information you need, head back to Hildibrand (Y:25.7, Y:34.5). You’ll discover that the Alchemist is not who he once was and things have gone sideways.

That’s not the only thing that’s going to go sideways, though. During the cutscene, an Arkasodara will plead for your help, triggering the most bizarre game of baseball you’re ever likely to witness and a family reunion that you’re not likely to forget any time soon. At the very least, keep your finger primed on the print screen button.

Once the cutscene is over, talk to Hildibrand again – he’s directly next to you when you come out, you can’t miss him – and this will complete “Of Duplicity and Duplication”.

Now that Hildibrand and his parents have been reunited in an all too fitting dramatic fashion, we can move on to the next quest in the 6.55 update.

Speak to Godbert (X21.9, Y34.1) and he’ll tell you that as part of their invite to the area, the person they’re visiting has arranged a private airship to transport them, before inviting you and everyone else to join them on their journey. To do this, stay in Thavnair and talk to the Private Airship Pilot (X21.1, Y22.9) south of Kadjaya’s Footsteps

After a brief moment of shock and confusion, followed by a linkshell call to his boss, he’ll let you onto the airship, and you’ll be transported to your destination. Watch the chaos unfold and eventually, you’ll unlock The Gilded Araya — the new FFXIV trial featuring Asura.

Once you’ve won that battle, you’ll once again be in a cutscene. This time, you’ll find out the fate of Brandihild, witness Pupu being reunited with his overzealous friend and find out what happens to the ‘Alchemist’ you came all this way to see.

Once that’s over, talk to Delion (X11.4 Y11.5) back in Radz-at-Han to complete the quest and wrap up the Hildibrand saga for Endwalker.

Manderville relic weapons

Once you’ve completed the Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures storyline, you can head straight to the Crucible of Al-kimiya and speak to Gerolt (X12.0 Y7.0) to unlock the the Mandervilious stage of the relic. These weapons have a beautiful color-shifting glow and dye rather well, so even if you don’t want the upgraded iLevel, they’re worth it simply for the glamor possibilities.

During the cutscene, Godbert informs us that the final ingredient we need to procure is Ultramanderville, which is extracted from an item called Cosmic Crystallite. We’re also informed that the method to extract said Ultramanderville is… Dance. Of course, because why wouldn’t it be?

Getting your hands on Cosmic Crystallite is as easy as getting your hands on the previous items in the questline – simply head to the Main Aetheryte Plaza and speak to Jubrunnah (X12.2 Y10.9). Each Cosmic Crystallite costs 500 Tomestones of Causality, so you’ll need 1500 in total to complete this step

Now, simply head back to the Crucible of Al-Kimiya and speak to Gerolt again. While upgrading your weapon, you’ll need to equip any other weapon for your class and you’ll have a chance to upgrade the attributes of the Mandervillious weapon before you can finish the quest. As well as the weapon itself, you also get rewarded with a new title — “The Mandervillious”.
