You already knew that Hideo Kojima was headed to the 2009 Game Developers Conference this year to deliver a keynote speech. But now it looks like he’ll be taking an award back home to Japan with him.

Hideo Kojima will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s ceremony taking place at GDC for the 2009 Game Developers Choice Awards. This award “recognizes the career and achievements of developers who have made an indelible impact on the craft of game development.” The Metal Gear creator will be recognized for his twenty-plus years of work on games.

Our berets are off to you, Kojima-san.
