Commander: Viral marketing for a WiiWare title, Bit.Trip: Beat revealed

Recommended Videos

It looks like the mysterious “Commander” Wii-exclusive isn’t Starcraft: Ghost, Duke Nukem: Forever, or Zone of Enders 3. It is a WiiWare title named Bit.Trip: Beat. At face value, none of the viral stuff we have seen thus far has been misleading. We were just caught up in the heat of the moment.

Aksys Games’s Bit.Trip is described by a Nintendo Power snippet (via GoNintendo) as a rhythm-based game, influenced by the aesthetic and gameplay of Pong. The object of the game is to “deflect incoming pixel-like blocks with your paddle.” Doing it to the beat means bright, vivid colors. Sucking it up results in faded visuals, reminiscent of those Atari days.

Even if the game isn’t a Zone of Enders sequel, it appears as though it could be a delightful WiiWare title. We’ll have to wait and see.
