Co op will provide assistance to you during your zombie escapades, and there are indeed multiplayer options in Dead Island 2 available to you. You can team up with two other players to take on quests and level up. However, the co-op process isn’t as easy as a game like Destiny 2 or Fortnite. Here’s everything we know about the multiplayer options in Dead Island 2.

How to invite friends in Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 provides three-player co-op, but you must first reach a point in the story to unlock the option to play it. You must finish the prologue mission, and after defending a celebrity’s mansion and leaving it, a prompt will open up. It will say that co-op is now available to you. The protagonist also says a third-wall-breaking comment.

To begin the invitation process, you’ll need to change the Game Type from Public to Invite Only, Public, or Friends Only. It will then create a session for you.  Once you’re in the game, go to the pause menu. Select “Session.” Now, press the square button (or X on Xbox). Your friends list will appear and you can invite your pals with the cross button (A on Xbox). You may need your friends when facing some of the nasty bosses in the game like Becki the Bride and finding hidden sections of the map.

Does Dead Island 2 have crossplay?

At the time of writing, Dead Island 2 does not support any kind of crossplay. Unfortunately, you are stuck with your friends on the same console. If you have a PS5 copy,  you won’t able to team up with someone on Xbox or PC.

Is there Dead Island 2 split screen?

Like many modern games, Dead Island 2 does not support split screen of any kind. Sadly, you won’t be able to play this game on the couch. If you want an experience like that, you might want to check out the Borderlands series. Even the third entry supports it.
