If you were a casting director looking to fill in the role of Marcus Fenix, who would you pick? Naturally, one’s mind would wander to men who may not be amazing actors, but possess truly massive muscles. Cliff Bleszinski wants the best of both worlds for the upcoming Gears of War film adaptation. He recently told IGN that he wants a “real actor” instead of a meathead.

From the interview:

Definitely not a wrestler. I think just go with a real actor. You know… like a Clive Owen type; somebody who can actually act and is incredibly charismatic. And they can put him on a workout plan for six months so he can build the muscle mass he needs.

As a frame of reference, I’m quite sure that Marcus Fenix could lift a semi trailer with one arm while using his other to chainsaw a grunt. As far as charisma goes, I don’t quite remember Fenix being anywhere near magnetic. If anything, the Gears movie should focus on Baird. He’s like FF VII’s Cid, on steroids, with an amazing vocabulary to boot.
