European Xbox 360 price cut confirmed

Microsoft has been quiet about a European price cut since it slashed Xbox 360 costs in America and Japan, but it seems that The ‘Soft has finally come clean and announced that Europe is getting the 360 for less this week.

The Arcade version will go from €199.99 to €179.99 (£129.00), the Pro from €269.99 to €239.99 (£169.99) while the Elite will now sell for €299.99 (£229.99), down from €369.99.

Just like in North America, Microsoft now has the cheapest current-gen SKU in Europe. With the Wii retailing still at £179.99 in the UK, both the Arcade and Pro 360 models cost less than Nintendo’s lil’ white waggle box. Will it be enough to give MS the edge this Christmas? Possibly over Sony, but I can’t see the mainstream crowd ditching their Wiimotes just yet.

The price cut is in effect from this Friday. Pretty red circles are still provided free of charge.
