360 version of Alone in the Dark may not get patched if PS3 version doesn’t sell

You may remember that not too long ago Alone in the Dark developer Eden Studios said that they would bring the Xbox 360 version of the game up to the same standards of the PlayStation 3 version. The PS3 version is supposedly bereft of all that minor stuff like the clunky inventory, terrible driving and camera system. Apparently, the patch for the Xbox 360 version of the game is only coming if people buy the PS3 version of the game.

MTVMultiplayer is carrying this quote from Eden Studios’ designer, Emile Morel:

We can’t promise it because it is still early. We are finishing this [PS3] version first. I guess it also depends on the success of this version. If people review it again and said it’s not worth it…[laughs]

Whoa, that hurts. As you may know, Alone in the Dark for the Xbox 360 didn’t exactly reach that level of critical acclaim that one would associate with success. It’s too bad that console players are being forced into this PC mentality where admittedly broken games are released with the promise of patches. And in this scenario, who knows if the patch will ever come?
