Hisuian Voltorb picks Berries with its pals in adorable new short

Voltorb will get a Hisui variant in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The Poke-Ball Pokemon Voltorb will be one of the creatures getting a Hisuian version in the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Arceus. And as part of its reveal, the Pokemon Company has released an adorable stop-motion short, featuring Voltorb and pals going Berry picking.

A new short posted on the Pokemon YouTube channel shows Hisuian Voltorb out on a Berry-picking outing with Pikachu, Spheal, and Buneary. It’s all made in stop-motion, using cute little clay figures, and it’s absolutely wonderful. Definitely add it to your watch list for today.

Of course, if you’re more interested in seeing what Hisuian Voltorb wil look like in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, there is another video that does just that. While it still looks like the Voltorb we’ve known and loved since Pokemon Red and Blue, it’s got a bit of a woodworking underside to it. While it still uses electricity, Voltorb’s look is more woodworking and crafted than technologically advanced.

This adds onto the Hisui region variant we’ve already seen, and thankfully this time around it wasn’t a horror found-film reveal. Regional variants are a fun way to reimagine some of these Pokemon and how they’d adapt to different climates, and seeing Voltorb in a pre-technological world is certainly interesting. I’ll just, uh, not ask questions about how any of that works or changes as the years go on.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set to launch on Nintendo Switch on Jan. 28, 2022.
