[Update: Sega has confirmed that the physical edition of Sonic Colors: Ultimate will launch in EMEA zones on October 1.]

We are a fortnight out from the arrival of incoming remaster Sonic Colors: Ultimate, which will see the revamped Nintendo Wii/DS release come speeding onto modern PC and console platforms. Unfortunately for physical media fans, it seems that some territories will be left waiting a little longer to get their paws on The Blue Blur’s newest release.

Sega Europe took to Twitter yesterday to announce that, due to logistical issues, all physical editions of Sonic Colors: Ultimate will not be hitting the shelves in most EMEA sectors, with Europe, Africa, and the Middle East being the most affected (it seems Australia and New Zealand will still receive the physical editions as planned). Sega apologized for the selective delay and said that it would be following up with more information regarding a revised street date soon.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate will see Sonic & Tails team up with an army of cute critters known as “Wisps” in order to once again stop the evil machinations of Dr. Robotnik. The remaster features updated visuals and animations, a remixed soundtrack, and new features such as the Tails-narrated “Navigation Mode”, the Metal Sonic starring “Rival Rushg” mode, and even in-battle assists. Sega recently commissioned a cute new animated short in order to set the stage for the incoming release.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate launches on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Epic Games Store) September 7.
