So it seems that the rumors were true. Spike Chunsoft’s strange “Nine Eyes” website has drawn back the curtain on its secrets, revealing the existence of NirvanA Initiative, a sequel to the 2019 psychic mystery title AI: The Somnium Files. The new sequel is currently in development for PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Switch, with a tentative release date of spring 2022.

In what seems to be an incredibly grisly setup, NirvanA Initiative kicks off with the fresh discovery of half a corpse, the remainder of which first rolled up six years prior. Tasked with solving this bizarre killing, known as “The Half Body Serial Murder”, will be returning character and child genius Special Agent Mizuki, who will be accompanied on her investigations by the inquisitive and aloof AI, Aiba.

While gameplay details are still under wraps, one can expect another strange journey of investigation and interrogation from our protagonists, ably abetted by their psychic abilities, eye for deduction, and wry sense of humor. AI: The Somnium Files was highly praised on release for its creative ideas and taut murder mystery narrative, so hopefully, the sequel will deliver the same level of quality for returning fans and budding psychic sleuths everywhere.

While AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative is still some ways away, Spike Chunsoft has already opened pre-orders on a physical release. The sequel will receive a standard edition on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, while a Collector’s Edition will also include a book of concept art, a soundtrack CD, and a still-to-be-revealed figurine of Aiba, crafted by the fine folk at Good Smile Co.

Visit the brand new website for more deets. And if you fancied getting up to speed with the story, then AI: The Somnium Files is available now on PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
