Pokemon Cafe Mix has served over five million customers

With a side order of Big Bucks

The Pokémon Company has announced that mobile puzzler Pokémon Cafe Mix has served up a huge five million total downloads since its June launch for Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms.

The free-to-play title puts players in charge of a Pokémon-themed restaurant, and must “serve” a steady stream of critters via a series of colourful, icon-matching mini-games. Impress your customers enough, and they’ll come to work for you – which I’m not sure is quite how the hospitality industry works, but let’s just run with it. Of course, as is the case with almost all F2P mobile games, elements such as “stamina,” currencies, and microtransactions are present.

Still, the grimier aspects of mobile gaming have clearly not deterred trainers from starting up their own charming eateries. And to celebrate the five million download milestone, Pokémon Cafe Mix is offering 5,000 Golden Acorns and three Whistle “puzzle powers to all players who log in to the game between August 16 and August 29. Players should also keep an eye out for rare customer Grookey, who will be visiting cafes between August 11 and August 25.

Pokémon Cafe Mix is available now on Nintendo Switch, as well as iOS and Android devices.
