PSA: Still don’t have a full Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex in 2020? Try changing your system date to game the Wild Area

The first of each month

So it’s January 1, 2020! Lucky you, you’ve entered the sweet spot for Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s weather patterns.

In case you haven’t figured it out by now, you’re able to easily go into the Switch’s system settings and swap the date around to manipulate Wild Area spawns. It’s simple: each day the Wild Area changes its weather patterns for individual zones in a bid to get you to come back and play regularly.

But if you use the first of each month in 2020 as the date, the entire Wild Area will be covered in one specific type of weather. In other words, you don’t need to randomly plug in each day to try and find a pesky rare thunderstorm spawn: just flip the date to November 1, 2020 and every area will be hit with thunder. Use it to get those last few creatures.

Here’s a full rundown!

Pokemon Sword and Shield weather dates:

  • February 1, 2020 – Heavy Snowstorm
  • March 1, 2020 – Cloudy
  • April 1, 2020 – Sandstorm
  • May 1, 2020 – Clear Skies
  • June 1, 2020 – Fog
  • July 1, 2020 – Extreme Sun
  • August 1, 2020 – Clear Skies (same as May)
  • September 1, 2020 – Fog (same as July)
  • October 1, 2020 – Rain
  • November 1, 2020 – Thunder
  • December 1 , 2020 – Snow
