Rare hopes to create a ‘natural and magical world’ in Everwild

First look at Rare’s new IP

Rare has started work on its next game, a brand new property titled Everwild. The UK-based developer made the two-hour-and-change trek to London for the Xbox X019 event to show its next project.

Everwild is led by executive producer Louise O’Connor, who has been at Rare since 1999. The development team aims to “[build] an experience that allows for new ways to play in a natural and magical world.” It also seems as though Everwild is meant to be a social game, as Rare mentions it wants to provide “memorable, engaging, and meaningful experiences for players everywhere to share.”

However, Rare isn’t yet ready to get into the nitty, gritty of Everwild. Rare says that the game is currently in pre-production. The reveal trailer that’s embedded above is all that we’ll likely see for the foreseeable future. Because of the timing, it’s almost certain that Everwild is targeting next generation’s Project Scarlett for release.

Starting to ramp up on Everwild doesn’t mean Sea of Thieves has to walk the plank, though. Rare notes that it now has two large teams — one for each game — and that it plans to support Sea of Thieves “for a long time to come.”
