Monster Hunter World: Iceborne trailer introduces the frightening Barioth

Wyvern you like it or not

If there’s one thing you can be sure of when you set foot outdoors in Monster Hunter: World, it’s the likelihood that you’ll come face-to-claw with some huge, terrifying creature, likely not too stoked that you’re trampling all over its territory. Case in point, the Barioth, looking to make you lunch in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

Capcom has dropped a new trailer introducing us to this massive monster, indigenous to the frozen wilds of the tundra. The Barioth is a Wyvern, as white as its surroundings, and armed with more than enough pointy parts to make mincemeat of any wanderer straying into its lair. If the huge fangs, claws and clubbing tail weren’t enough, then the Barioth can also take to the skies, thanks to the huge wings spanning its forelegs. Death from above indeed.

The Barioth joins other incoming beasties, such as the Tigrex and the Glavenus, all prepped and ready to engage you in heavily-outmatched combat. Better bring all the gear you’ve got if you want to take down one of these behemoths. The fight begins when Monster Hunter World: Iceborne launches on PS4 and Xbox One September 6, with PC to follow sometime in 2020.
