The GLOOM is one of the two new biomes in PEAK as part of The Final Ascent update, and it can be a tricky place to maneuver. Like all other biomes, the GLOOM has its own sets of challenges and dangers.
Knowing the dangers will allow you to prepare accordingly and escape the biome without any issues.
How to survive the GLOOM biome in PEAK
The GLOOM biome has parts of the area below a mist which can turn out to be quite dangerous. Whenever you’re under the mist, you’ll take sleep damage, and this can prove to be fatal if left unchecked.

So how do you prevent sleep damage? The key is to find a source of light. You’ll find five different Belltowers spread all around the GLOOM biome. If you manage to activate all five of them on the same run, you’ll complete the Bellringer badge. However, the Belltower has more use than just getting a badge.
When you activate the badge, it will create a safe space for you to stand and move in the GLOOM. You won’t take any sleep damage when you’re in the safe space. Moreover, the Belltower will also burn the big ghost if it approaches you.
However, the Belltowers are stationary, and they can’t move with you. The best alternative is finding a candlestick. The candlestick can be found in luggage spread around the biome, and you can activate it to create a fire.

You can use the fire to burn up a ghost, but you can also create a safe space around yourself. When the candlestick is active, you won’t take any sleep damage. However, the candlestick has limited usage capacity, so don’t keep it active at all times. Use it judiciously when you’re under the mist.
As long as you can keep the fire sources at hand, traversing the GLOOM biome is really easy. Watch out for Frogs and Crows since they can also do damage, but you won’t need to take any extra steps.
