We totally needed a Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers trailer with Hannibal Buress and Tom Holland

No we didn’t

I had my fair share of MMOs in high school with Final Fantasy XI, so I’ve mostly been on the periphery of XIV‘s tumultuous first year and phoenix-like rise after Square made a monumental decision to reboot the entire game. Since then, XIV has gone onto become a gigantic hit among the writers and community here at Destructoid and there’s a lot of hype leading into the newest expansion, Shadowbringers.

That being said, did we really need a trailer with Tom Holland and Hannibal Buress to sell us on the upcoming expansion?

No. The answer is no. But this being the hellscape we find ourselves in these days, a trailer for a video game featuring two people who have no connection to the game whatsoever is exactly what we get. If Square really wanna go full bore on these off-beat advertisements, next time they should have Buress walk around as a mystic snail with Holland portraying a summoner instead of a dark knight.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers will release on July 2 for PC and PlayStation 4.
