You’ve been mighty patient, Dragon Quest fans, but the wait is nearly over for more JRPG bliss. As confirmed this morning during the Nintendo Direct E3 special, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition will launch for Nintendo Switch on September 27, 2019.

Switch owners can look forward to orchestrated world and battle music, HD and 16-bit styles, more side quests, a Japanese and English voice track, and the option to increase the speed of battles.

Last year, Chris reviewed the original Western release of Dragon Quest XI on PS4. “If you’ve been pining for an older-school character-focused RPG instead of the player-created party focus of IX and the MMO aspect of X, the wait has ended,” he said at the time. Dragon Quest on the go is a beautiful thing.
