Terminator: Resistance looks about as dubious as you’d expect

From the developer of Rambo: The Video Game

With Terminator: Dark Fate headed to theaters this November, we’re seeing fresh signs of life from the seemingly never-ending sci-fi series. Beyond Terminator tie-ins with Gears 5 and Mortal Kombat 11, there’s also a new licensed video game on the way that calls to mind the many less-than-stellar movie-inspired titles of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 generation. Who keeps buying this stuff?

I’m not sure, but admittedly, I rushed to watch the trailer. Morbid curiosity will do that to you.

Terminator: Resistance presents its own post-apocalyptic story that “expands upon the Future War glimpsed at in the iconic films of James Cameron.” It’s a first-person shooter with crafting, character leveling, and side quests. It’s also developed by Teyon, the studio behind Rambo: The Video Game.

I appreciate that Resistance isn’t following the same beats as Dark Fate, but the writing’s on the wall. If you’ve somehow played every single Terminator game to date and you’re not about to stop now, look for it on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’s out November 15 in Europe and December 3 in North America.

I wish I cared about the Terminator series the way I used to.
