Bloodstained Vita port has been cancelled

Backers can choose a new platform

During this year’s E3, there was something of a kerfuffle when I reported that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night would be a download only title for the PlayStation Vita. Apparently, some wires got crossed and the developers behind the game assured us in the comments that no decision on the Vita version had been made. Now we have a firm answer: there will be no Vita version at all.

In a Kickstarter update released today, IGA and team confirmed the game will now launch in 2019 and the Vita port has been cancelled, saying:

The second announcement is that the game will no longer launch on PlayStation Vita. This decision is largely due to Sony’s plans to discontinue the Vita console, ending production of physical copies and stopping certain store support features.

Anyone who backed the project and selected the Vita as their console of choice are now able to change platforms on their backer page. If you’d rather have a refund, you have until September 20 to initiate the process.
