Fortnite introduces the respawn friendly ‘Playgrounds’ mode

I no longer fear death

The latest addition to Fortnite’s repertoire of game modes is “Playgrounds.” This mode sees players given a time limit (rather than a single life) to explore the game’s map, build plenty of forts and kill to their heart’s content. It almost sounds like a tutorial for the regular battle royale option, since all treasure chests and ammo crates will be spawned and you’ll be able to re-drop at any point. I can definitely get behind that, especially since I’d love to see a traditional deathmatch come to PUBG and Fortnite.

There will also be a ton of llamas…for some reason. That sounds kind of neat, whatever it means. Stats and challenges will not be tracked in “Playgrounds,” so you won’t be able to cheese your way through Fortnite’s battle pass. As the official blog post reads, “This represents our initial step into what a creative mode looks like in Fortnite. Practice, strategize and enjoy yourself.”

Other updates include better controller support, performance updates and some quality of life changes. You can read the full patch notes over on the blog, but it sounds like a bunch of good stuff.
