Over at Kotaku UK, Laura Kate Dale has reported that multiple sources say Activision is working on a Spyro the Dragon trilogy remaster for release on PlayStation 4 this year.

The report states that the title will be announced in March of 2018 with a release set for the third quarter of the same year.

The remaster will reportedly include Spyro the Dragon, Ripto’s Rage!, and Year of the Dragon, all with new assets, animations, cinematics, lighting, and a fully remastered soundtrack. All of these reports seem to line up with the same sort of work done to the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, which was a huge success last year.

The remaster is said to be under development by Vicarious Visions, who also handled Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy. One of Kotaku’s sources also stated that the Spyro remaster would launch in September of 2018, lining up with the purple dragon’s 20th anniversary. The remaster would have PS4 Pro support and remain exclusive to PlayStation for a year’s time.

This is all just a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt, but Dale has been right about these types of rumors in the past so I’m hopeful Spyro will be gliding onto our PS4s very soon.
