Cave Story creator’s Kero Blaster out on PS4 next week

Daisuke “Pixel” Amaya is bringing the amphibian action-platformer Kero Blaster to PlayStation 4 on Tuesday, April 11. Like some of his other non-Cave Story games, it’s a name you might’ve heard mentioned before but never sought out, and if so, this port should be a nice little signal boost.

While the game might not look all that tricky from the trailer alone, just wait until the post-game Zangyou Mode shows up to ruin your day. There’s meat on these bones.

“If Cave Story is a rock opera, then Kero Blaster is an album of energetic, perfectly paced pop songs,” wrote Jonathan Holmes in his review of the original PC release. “As long as you don’t go into one expecting the other, there’s no reason you can’t enjoy both in equal measure.”
