No Man’s Sky is now coming to PC on August 12 worldwide

That means a few more days of waiting for North America

Hello Games will be working on No Man’s Sky right up until the last minute and then some. As confirmed this afternoon, the PC version is slipping a few days to a Friday, August 12 worldwide release. Previously, the space-exploration title was set for August 9 in North America.

“I really want to clarify our PC release date,” said studio founder Sean Murray in a series of tweets. “It’s something we’re working extremely hard on. PC NMS release will now be global and will be August 12th worldwide. It’s so important we get it right and make the best version we can.”

“We apologise for the extra days wait this means for North America,” he continued. “There are reasons we have to be tight lipped at times. I’m sorry for the confusion caused. We think a global release is best for everyone on PC. Retail forces us to be staggered on PS4.”

Better to hear it now than Monday evening, I suppose. For those of you who managed to score an early copy on PS4, here’s something to keep in mind: the “discovery online storage” will be wiped on Sunday, so don’t get too attached to the alien planets and species you’ve so cleverly named.
