Publishers Nicalis are teaming up with DotEmu to bring Lizardcube’s beautiful remake of 1989’s Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap to store shelves, with the announcement of a forthcoming physical release for the stylish adventure game, which launched earlier this year.

Although the title was made available in physical form through Limited Run Games, Nicalis believe that the game is deserving of wider distribution. “We’re huge fans of the Wonder Boy series, and we believe that Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap deserves the full physical retail treatment,” said Nicalis CEO Victor Rodriguez. “We’ve got a deep respect for DotEmu, this is an exciting partnership for us.”

Nicalis are no stranger to bringing beloved small-scale games to the high street, having previously secured retail releases for indie-darlings The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ and Cave Story+.

The new physical release is planned for Nintendo Switch and PS4, the game is currently also available on PC and Xbox One. The new physical release is penciled in for the first quarter of 2018, priced around $40, a ten bucks increase on the Limited Run editions.
