Pokemon Sun and Moon’s new four-player Battle Royal mode looks great

Free-for-all!

A new battle mode was shown off at today’s Nintendo conference, and it’s called “Battle Royal.” It’s for up to four players at once, each of which bring three Pokemon to the battle. Battles happen with one Pokemon per trainer at a time, and it’s just as you’d expect: a free-for-all. They end with one player loses all three Pokemon.

The game then tallies up points based on performance from the battle and declares a winner. This adds a new degree of strategy, since if you know you haven’t done much and a player is about to go out, then you may want to focus elsewhere to extend the battle and gain more points.

This could make for some really cool story moments, and I can’t wait to see how it’s implemented in the singleplayer!
