Evolve’s free map DLC is doing that ‘Xbox first’ thing

Two Broken Hill maps incoming

It’s great to see free maps in a multiplayer-centric game like Evolve, but — there just had to be a but — timed platform exclusivity? Considerably less good. When the maps Broken Hill Mine and Broken Hill Foundry debut on March 31, they’ll only be available for Xbox One. Following that initial release, PC and PlayStation 4 players will be able to download the pair on April 30.

“Mine” is set in a cave system whose hidden pathways should thoroughly confuse untrained hunters (like me!), while “Foundry” is more of an industrial zone containing crates of bohrium that the beast can consume (though doing so will make enough noise to give away its position).

If Turtle Rock Studios can keep a steady flow of new content going, there may still be a decently active player base by the time I dig into Evolve. Speaking of which, I need to check in on Titanfall.
