Trading card-based Skylanders Battlecast is out today

With real cards

While Disney Infinity is shutting down entirely, Activision is doubling down on the market with a new Skylanders property, Battlecast. It’s a mobile game that uses real trading cards on Android and iOS, as well as in-game unlocks. Multiplayer and AI battles are confirmed, as well as a campaign mode — the latter of which isn’t typically a thing these days.

Truth be told it sounds particularly pricey (packs range from $4.99 to $9.99), but I’m going to try to give it a shot when I have some free time and see if Activision maintained a good free-to-play balance that doesn’t pressure you into spending tons of cash. We’ll see.
