Sony’s canceled Game Boy title would have beaten Link’s Awakening to the punch

Today in cool old videogames I’m only now hearing about for the first time, we have Castaway Boy Keith, an unreleased action-RPG for the Game Boy from Epic/Sony.

As much as the screenshots resemble a certain handheld Nintendo adventure, here’s the weird part: Keith would have released in 1990, predating The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

According to Disgruntled Designer, the protagonist, Keith, gets stranded on an island and must collect musical notes to defeat the devil king Drakhe. What a funny name for an adventurer.
