Puzzle & Dragons downloads now exceed 41 million

GungHo’s mobile sensation steams ahead

Puzzle & Dragons has now surpassed 41 million downloads worldwide, more than 6 million of which came out of North America, publisher GungHo Online announced this week.

The overall figure has increased from 37 million in August, when 4 million of the downloads were spread across the United States and Canada. It’s certainly not the phenomenon it is in Japan, but the fusion of Pokémon and Bejeweled seems to be generating some traction in the West.

The momentum only figures to build now that GungHo has announced a crossover project with Nintendo, Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition, uniting the medium’s most iconic franchise with one of the hottest mobile games out there. Sounds like a surefire recipe for success.

Puzzle & Dragons is available on mobile devices for free via iTunesGoogle Play, and Amazon.
