Capcom just announced the unveiling of a realistic statue of none other than Leon S. Kennedy, and, as an indicator that the S. might very well stand for “sex”, fans are already losing their minds.
The Leon S. Kennedy statue will be put on display at the Resident Evil 30th anniversary celebration for fans to see and not to touch, I assume. Reaction has been, well, even more unhinged than I expected, and that’s saying a lot.
And who am I kidding, most people aren’t even saying they want to buy it, but rather confessing to their plans to steal it in suspiciously ineffective ways.

What is the Leon S. Kennedy factor?
Leon S. Kennedy has always been the most popular character in the Resident Evil series. Maybe that was because he showed up as a rookie cop and thus a character one could more easily identify with than a member of a Spec Ops team, or because he was lucky enough to star in the best entries of the series, or maybe just because he was sexier than Chris. We might never know.
Capcm, knew very well that playing the Leon card during promotion would immediately help catapult Resident Evil Requiem’s hype to the stratosphere. So, just like Umbrella got their best scientists to come up with the best killing machine in the form of the Tyrant, Capcom got its female employees to work together and come up with the ultimate version of Leon, which, obviously, also doubles as the ultimate version of a man. So, if the final statue of prime Leon does end up awakening something you didn’t know you had residing in you, don’t feel bad; it’s definitely not some sort of evil virus taking hold of you: it’s just scientific inevitability.
Capcom will unveil the Leon S. Kennedy statue on October 30 and display it in Shibuya, Tokyo, for the 30th anniversary celebration of Resident Evil, a game that the Leon hype likely made many forget he’s not even in. Until then, you can play Resident Evil Requiem with mods that make Leon S. Kennedy’s very detailed model even more visible. Just remember: he has a wedding ring and a place to go home to.
