Tonight at Square Enix’s “Uncovered” event, the publisher announced a Final Fantasy XV-themed animated series, Final Fantasy XV: Brotherhood, and a CGI movie, Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive.

Brotherhood is a free five-part series that comes from Tokyo-based anime studio A-1 Pictures, the first episode of which is already available online. The other four will air prior to the release of Final Fantasy XV. As a whole, the series will explore the relationships of the four main characters, specifically showing how the protagonists became friends and got to know one another from childhood to adulthood.

Meanwhile, Kingsglaive is a feature-length film with an all-star cast of voice actors that includes Sean Bean, Lena Heady, and Aaron Paul. It will be released sometime later this year.

[Update: A sixth episode of Brotherhood will be available exclusively via the Ultimate Collector’s Edition.]
