Xbox has no delusions of ushering in a peaceful new year. Many a punch will thrown by those who subscribe to Xbox Live Gold, it’s just inevitable. Well, unless you suit up as Adam Jensen and play the pacifist.
January’s Games with Gold have just been revealed, and they’re sure to float someone’s boat (or find their lost remote). Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition kicks off Xbox One’s new campaign on January 1. Killer Instinct is normally free-to-play but with a revolving cast of fighters. This edition unlocks the entire season one roster.
Carrying the torch the thematic violence, indie beat-’em-up Zheros joins the fray on January 16 on Xbox One. It’s the game’s initial release, and we don’t know a lot about it. This trailer will probably paint a better picture than my words could.
On the older system, Dirt Showdown and Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be available for two weeks each — January 1 through 15 and January 16 through 31, respectively. They are conveniently playable on Xbox One through backward compatibility, so the 360 can keep propping up the leg of your horribly off-kilter coffee table. (You really need to get a new coffee table.)
