[Update: IGN has issued a retraction and apology.]

Sony once again is fending off rumors regarding the status of The Last Guardian. Yesterday evening, IGN reported the long-awaited project from Team Ico had been cancelled, citing an unnamed internal source.

Well, that just isn’t true, according to PlayStation’s Scott Rohde, software product development head at Sony Worldwide Studios America.

Rohde responded to the gossip over Twitter, saying “[Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida] and I laughed at this rumor over dinner. The Last Guardian has NOT been cancelled.”

Back in March, Rohde assured us the title was still in development, but wouldn’t say “what platform it’s coming on, who’s working on it, [or] who’s involved.” Perhaps we’ll finally find out some of that information this week at E3.
