Epic is doing something with Unreal Tournament next week

VP Mark Rein is ‘so excited for the comback’

It’s been long enough since the last Unreal Tournament that I’d say hell yeah, we could use another one of those right about now. Epic Games VP and co-founder Mark Rein has taken to Twitter today to hype up “the future of Unreal Tournament.” He says all will be revealed next Thursday at 2:00pm Eastern on Twitch.tv/UnrealEngine. What could this be, exactly?

Perhaps the series is going free-to-play with a new installment. Or Epic has tapped another studio to work on the property. Or an honest-to-goodness, full-fledged Unreal Tournament is coming.

I don’t know, but here’s a clue. Rein went on to say that “What you need to know is in this tweet” by Epic’s Paul Meegan, which reads “UE4 Dev Community + Epic. The future of Unreal Tournament.”
