Will you be buying Super Mario Maker?

I wonder how this will turn out

I’m very interested in seeing how Super Mario Maker will turn out when it debuts on Wii U later this year. While there have been a lot of people vocally supporting the project, I see a lot of indifference towards it. In fact, if I wasn’t set to review it come September, I probably wouldn’t have picked it up if it weren’t for the fact that my wife is really into it, and I generally buy Mario games day one.

There’s something about Mario Maker that just doesn’t wow me, even though I know that dedicated fans will be making creations for years on end — creations we will likely be covering on Destructoid. But still, I don’t think Nintendo has done enough to really get me excited for it, perhaps due to the fact that it feels rather limited in terms of the source material it draws from (right now only objects from Super Mario Bros., Mario 3, Mario World, and Mario U are set to debut).

If they boasted the inclusion of every asset ever created for Mario, it would be really cool, but for now, I’m cautiously optimistic.
