No Games for Windows Live in Batman: Arkham Origins

Third time’s a charm

Batman: Arkham Origins is slowly winning me over — and in unexpected ways — after initially not sounding like a worthy follow-up. The fact that the upcoming prequel won’t follow Arkham Asylum and Arkham City‘s example of using Games for Windows Live helps. It helps so much. In fact, I actually skipped the PC versions of those titles despite their graphical superiority over consoles.

Warner Bros. tells IGN that in place of the Xbox 360-like service, Arkham Origins will use Steamworks. This is particularly good news considering that the title has multiplayer, now. While Microsoft hasn’t discontinued Games for Windows Live, whether or not that ultimately happens is becoming increasingly irrelevant.
