Trials Frontier’s first week saw six million downloads

A sign of things to come for the series?

While I liked the just-released Trials Fusion less than its predecessor, I still enjoyed the game. It’s pretty good, all things considered. I’m less optimistic about the other new series title released this month, Trials Frontier, which hit the App Store on April 10. It’s Trials but with the free-to-play microtransaction / energy hooks that keep many of us away from mobile gaming.

“Many of us” meaning people who read sites like this, not the general public — those players can’t seem to get enough of the game. Ubisoft says that in its first week, Trials Frontier was downloaded more than six million times, earning it the number-one spot in 75 countries and the title of “most first-week downloads of any Ubisoft mobile title to date.”

It’s at this exact moment I’m worried about the future of the franchise.
