Free Rise of the Triad update adds Doomstick, six community maps

Nods to Army of Darkness bring me joy

Punchy, semi-auto shotguns are my jam. I’m not playing 2013’s Rise of the Triad, but maybe I should be. Update 1.4 has gone live and while it most notably introduces the Doomstick, there are also six community maps added to the core game, new particle and gore effects, three extra achievements, and a pair of new cheats, plus bug fixes. Find the full list here.

Also, Interceptor Entertainment removed 17 achievements from the game (!!!) because “they weren’t good ones.” I didn’t even know that could be done.

Not to sound like a total psychopath, but sometimes you (and by “you,” I really mean “I”) just want to make screen-splattering eyeballs and exploding bodies happen on-screen to relieve stress. Good timing, then, that Rise of the Triad is down to $3.74 for another day. That’s 75 percent off!
