Samurai Gunn is poised to be the next big local multi-player PC hit, having garnered tons early buzz on the festival circuit. It even scored an IGF nomination for excellence in design. We were lucky enough to have the game’s one man development team of Beau Blyth on Sup Holmes a few weeks back (now on iTunes), right before the IGF nomination hit. Good thing we got to him before he realized how awesome he is.

Beau let us know that a single-player mode for Samurai Gunn is in the works, which Beau described as simple and straightforward, but different every time you play it. My thoughts immediately went to Spelunky and The Binding of Isaac. Beau claim those comparisons were inaccurate, which was encouraging, though he kept all other details close to his chest.

We also go word that Beau is working with Disasterpeace (of Krunch and Fez fame) to get Samurai Gunn to Xbox Live Indie Games. I hope that’s just the first step towards hitting a larger market. Samurai Gunn is one of those games that could appeal to just about anyone, from fighting game fan to old-school platformer fanatic to hardcore Just Dance veteran, to those who game for ten minutes a week to eight hours a day. If you like to have fun and/or a good time, you should check it out. So go check it out!
