See Wii U innards in this hardware teardown

Wii U guts aren’t exciting

Recommended Videos

One of my favorite hardware sites, AnandTech, breaks down a Wii U to explore its innards. I have to say that even as a tech geek, the Wii U’s innards aren’t much to look at. It’s just circuit boards, chips, and support structure.

Still, AnandTech’s findings bring some interesting tidbits to light. For example, by looking at the chips we know that the Wii U has 12.8GB/s of peak memory bandwidth, matching that of the iPad 3/4.

They also ran a Java speedtest for the Wii U browser. While the system sports the best console browser yet, it’s still ranked the slowest in AnandTech’s findings. Still, they call it useable and decent.

Hopefully they’ll crack open the GamePad next.
