Dream on: Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Tales crossover

Still your quivering loins

What happens when Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and Tales producers Yosuke Saito, Shinji Hashimoto, and Hideo Baba share space in Japanese monthly V Jump? JRPG nerds fangasm off into the sunset.

A snippet of possible collaboration talks comes courtesy of Siliconera. This is almost assuredly “what ifs” and “if only” spit balling. Don’t expect some sort of Miami Heat-esque JRPG Voltron. But you can think about it, and hopefully that gets you through the day.

Baba (Tales): “If you can do it, then by all means!”
Saito (Dragon Quest): “Shall we? We can start right away.”
Baba: “How about [Akira] Toriyama’s first Tales of game?”
Hashimoto (Final Fantasy): “If Toriyama is okay with it, then we’re okay with it. As long as we stay true to the world view, I think [Yuji] Horii would be okay with it, too.”

Hashimoto: “How about Kosuke Fujishima (Tales of character designer) draws for a Final Fantasy, and Tetsuya Nomura do Dragon Quest?”
Baba: “I’m pretty sure Fujishima would do it.”
